BEAT SAMMY v3 Multi-Output Routing

Getting individual drum voices onto separate tracks in REAPER

BEAT SAMMY v3 has 36 output channels: a stereo main mix (channels 1-2) plus 17 individual voice stereo pairs (channels 3-36). By default, REAPER only uses channels 1-2 (the main mix). To access individual voices on separate tracks, you need to set up the routing manually using REAPER's Pin Connector.

This is a JSFX limitation, not a bug. VSTi plugins (like Kontakt) can auto-build multi-output routing, but JSFX plugins require manual Pin Connector configuration.

Quick Setup (5 minutes)

1. Insert BEAT SAMMY v3 on a track. Make sure the drum map is loaded.
2. Click the Route button on the BEAT SAMMY track (or press the routing icon in the mixer).
3. In the routing dialog, set Track channels to 36 (top-right dropdown, may show "2" by default).
4. Create child tracks for each voice you want separated. Right-click the BEAT SAMMY track > Insert multiple tracks... and create tracks named: Kick, Snare, HH Closed, HH Open, Tom Lo, Tom Mid, Tom Hi, Clap, Rim, Crash, etc.
5. For each child track, add a Receive from the BEAT SAMMY track:
6. Important: On the BEAT SAMMY parent track, either mute the main mix output (channels 1/2) to the master, OR leave it connected as a reference mix. The individual voice tracks will have their own copies of the audio.

Tip: You don't need to separate ALL voices. Most workflows only need Kick, Snare, and HH on their own tracks. The rest can stay in the main mix.
